CHANDIGARH : After the BJP government was formed in Haryana in October 2014, the state vigilance bureau (VB) has registered at least 455 fresh inquiries against officers, including Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Indian Police Service (IPS), the VB said on Sunday.
Among the officers against whom fresh inquiries were registered are five IAS, one IPS, four Haryana Civil Service, one Haryana Police Service officers, six chief engineers and as many superintending engineers, 45 executive engineers, eight tehsildars, seven naib tehsildars and 47 sub-divisional officers, sub-divisional engineers, mechanical engineers of other departments, a government spokesperson said.
“The complaints against the officers pertain to corruption, misappropriation of government funds and owning disproportionate assets,” the spokesperson said in a release, pointing out that 276 inquiries were finalised.
Criminal cases and departmental action was recommended in 14 inquiries.
He said that 482 criminal cases, including 389 trap cases, had been registered against different officers/officials. The VB conducted 389 raids in which 39 gazetted officers, 374 non-gazetted officers and 49 other persons were caught red-handed while accepting illegal gratification and that criminal cases under Prevention of Corruption Act had been registered against them.
