LUDHIANA:: A day after parents of a 13-year-old boy of Rattowal village filed a complaint against the principal and the management of Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur Dakha, alleging that their son, Jaskaran Singh, a Class-9 student, lost a kidney due to their negligence, Ludhiana Rural police recorded the statements of both parties on Tuesday.

The parents have claimed their son was injured on the stomach during a school trip to the Fun World Water Park in Patiala on May 31. “He was injured in the stomach, but the school staff did not take him to a local hospital for first-aid,” the parents have alleged, adding that, later, he underwent treatment at the Deep Hospital in Ludhiana.

Inspector Bikramjit Singh, SHO Mullanpur Dakha police station, said, “Parents have alleged negligence on the part of teachers who accompanied students on the trip. They are claiming that their son’s kidney would not have been damaged had he got proper first-aid and taken to some hospital in Patiala itself. The school principal and the management are denying this. A report will be prepared and submitted to the SSP. Since, the incident happened in Patiala, the case might be shifted to the Sanaur police station there.”

‘DELAY ON PART OF PARENTS’

Denying the allegations, school principal Ravi Kant said, “The incident happened on May 31, when students of Classes 9 and 10 were taken for a picnic at the Fun World Water Park, Patiala. The student got injured while sliding. It was an internal injury and there was no apparent bleeding. The child was immediately given first-aid by the doctor, on the spot. The child was handed over to parents at 6.30pm. Then, they took him to the Deep Hospital at 10pm. The delay was on the part of the parents. We had given first-aid to the child.”
