VEHICLE NUMBER PORTABILITY

Vehicle registration number portability should be allowed, like mobile and gas connection transfer, with minimum charges. People move due to professional commitments. States loot in the name of fresh registration provisions. Some states like Maharashtra do not allow plying of vehicle with other state registration number on residence transfer. The government should make vehicle registration easy without putting unnecessary burden on the common man’s pocket. Portability of new number with token charges or allowing existing number with reasonable fee in the new state will be a welcome gesture.
