DHARAMSHALA: Acting on a tip-off, the Mcleodganj police on Friday arrested an NRI woman and a Haryana man on the charges of drug peddling.

The accused have been identified as Navneet Dhillon, an NRI from Canada and Sarjeet Singh, a resident of Palwal district in Haryana. They were living in a rented accommodation in Haini village near Mcleodganj when police nabbed them.

Kangra superintendent of police (SP) Santosh Patial said they were investigating a poster about cocaine and pornography workshop, pasted in and around Dharamkot village a few days ago when they got to know about the accused.

“While investigating the matter related to the posters, the cops received a tip-off about two people being in possession of contrabands like charas and a synthetic drug 5-MEO-DMT (5-methoxy-n,n-dimethyltryptamine) derived from Sonoran Desert Toads,” said Patial.

“On Friday, a team of police officials raided their rented accommodation and found 4.7 gram charas, 1.4 kilogram suspicious powder and eight bottles of liquid related to 5-MEO-DMT,” the superintendent of police said.

Meanwhile, substances recovered from their possession have been sent for chemical analysis to State Forensic Science Laboratory in Shimla.
