NRI WOMAN, HARYANA MAN HELD FOR DRUG PEDDLING IN HP
DHARAMSHALA: Acting on a tip-off, the Mcleodganj police on Friday arrested an NRI woman and a Haryana man on the charges of drug peddling.
The accused have been identified as Navneet Dhillon, an NRI from Canada and Sarjeet Singh, a resident of Palwal district in Haryana. They were living in a rented accommodation in Haini village near Mcleodganj when police nabbed them.
Kangra superintendent of police (SP) Santosh Patial said they were investigating a poster about cocaine and pornography workshop, pasted in and around Dharamkot village a few days ago when they got to know about the accused.
“While investigating the matter related to the posters, the cops received a tip-off about two people being in possession of contrabands like charas and a synthetic drug 5-MEO-DMT (5-methoxy-n,n-dimethyltryptamine) derived from Sonoran Desert Toads,” said Patial.
“On Friday, a team of police officials raided their rented accommodation and found 4.7 gram charas, 1.4 kilogram suspicious powder and eight bottles of liquid related to 5-MEO-DMT,” the superintendent of police said.
Meanwhile, substances recovered from their possession have been sent for chemical analysis to State Forensic Science Laboratory in Shimla.
Police said the accused have been booked under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act,1985.
