DHARAMSHALA :An Israeli woman on Thursday created ruckus by damaging a police van, assaulting cops and smashing windowpanes at the Dharamshala zonal hospital, and cops probing whether she was under the influence of drugs. The woman was identified as Racheli Zargari.

Kangra superintendent of police (SP) Santosh Patial said the police received information in the morning that a foreigner was creating ruckus at Mcloedganj. “We got a call from the woman’s friend who is a Swedish national that she was getting violent,” said Patial.

A team from Mcleodganj police station was sent to control her but she started assaulting the cops. On the way to hospital she kicked the windscreen of the police van smashing it down. At the hospital she got more violent and started to smash the windowpanes. Police had a tough time in controlling the woman and had to tie her to a hospital bed. A video of the woman has gone viral in which she is seen scuffling with police and screaming loudly. Six cops, including woman constables, received minor injuries.

Her medical examination was conducted. “We have sought opinion of doctors whether she had taken drug overdose or is suffering from some mental illness,” said Patial. Her friend is also being questioned.

“More details will be received after we get the medical report,” said Patial adding that woman has been referred to Dr Rajindera Prasad Medical College, Tanda, where she is under treatment. Dharamkot village on the outskirts of Dharmashala is popular among Israeli tourists and is also notorious for drug abuse by foreigners. Recently, posters about a workshop on cocaine sniffing had appeared in the hill town and later an NRI woman was caught with heroin and other synthetic drugs along with the workshop posters.
