THE CM LAID THE FOUNDATION STONE OF A REHABILITATION CENTRE OF THE DISPLACED FAMILIES OF MIRCHPUR IN HISAR DISTRICT

CHANDIGARH: HARYANA chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar took a dig at the previous Congress government on Saturday, saying that it did not find any way to help the victims of communal clashes at Mirchpur village in 2010.

Speaking on the sidelines of laying the foundation stone of a rehabilitation centre of the displaced families of Mirchpur in Dhandur village in Hisar district, the CM suggested that the place be named Deen Dayal Puram.

As many as 258 displaced families of Mirchpur village would be accommodated on eight acres in Dhandur village.

Khattar, who was in Hisar on the concluding day of his connect-to-people campaign, said it was an unfortunate tragedy in 2010 but the then government could not find any redressal to it in the next four years. “Although we were in the opposition then, we continued our efforts to solve the problem. For this, we interacted with both sides. The only solution was to rehabilitate the displaced families and the present government has decided to do that,” Khattar said.

Meanwhile, finance minister Captain Abhimanyu, who also addressed the gathering, said the present government was working in the spirit of ‘Haryana ek-haryanavi Ek’.

The minister of state for social justice and empowerment Krishan Kumar Bedi said the present government had resolved the problems pending since over eight years while the INLD and Congress governments only “shed crocodile tears for political gains”.

Khattar, who later visited several places in Sirsa, also inaugurated and dedicated five projects costing ₹27.70 crore.
