GURUGRAM: A sacked trainee and his relative, who were arrested in connection with an attack on the HR manager of a Japanese company in Manesar, were acquitted by a city court on Monday.

The court acquitted both of them on the basis of a police report which gave them a clean chit in the case.

Sacked employee Joginder Singh and his relative Dayachand Master, who were lodged in jail for the last one month, will be released on Tuesday. Both of them were arrested on June 8, a day after the attack on Dinesh Sharma, a human resources (HR) manager with the Mitsuba Sical India Private Limited.

On Monday, Gururgam police submitted its report before the court highlighting that neither Singh nor Master had a role in the incident and requested the court to release them.

The development comes after the Delhi Police arrested Krishan Kumar, on June 29, for shooting at Sharma. The Gurugram police had recovered the murder weapon on Sunday. Kumar, who now runs a transport business, used to work as a bouncer at a Gurugram club. He was arrested when was planning to escape to Nepal. A pistol and a revolver were recovered from him.

Investigation by the special investigation team (SIT), which was constituted by the Gurugram police on June 13 to probe the attack, revealed that the HR manager was targeted because of a dispute over a transport contract. The police found that one of the applicants who lost the contract had planned the attack.

The SIT then arrested contractor Charan Singh, a resident of Pathredi village, and he spilled the beans during interrogation, the police said.

Kumar allegedly shot at Sharma near Bilapsur Chowk after chasing him for around 5km, police said. He was riding pillion while his accomplice Surender, who is yet to be arrested, was riding the two-wheeler.
