Hry govt plans global economic corridor along KMP e-way

CORRIDOR WILL HAVE ESTIMATED INVESTMENT POTENTIAL OF USD 50 BILLION (AROUND ₹3.5 LAKH CRORE), SAYS INDUSTRIES MINISTER VIPUL GOEL

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana government proposes to develop a global economic corridor along the 135-km long KMP expressway across Kundli, Manesar and Palwal, which would have an estimated investment potential of USD 50 billion (about Rs 3.5 lakh crore), industries minister Vipul Goel said here on Thursday.

Addressing mediaperso­ns here on Thursday, Goel said the Manesar-palwal section of the expressway, which is 52.33-km long is already complete and keeping in view the demands of the traders, the Kherki Daula toll would be shifted farther.

About the upcoming global city, he said the government is developing it over 1,000 acres area in Gurugram. This global city is poised to serve as an important node to Delhi–mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) sub-region of Haryana and carries an investment potential of USD 15 billion (around Rs 1.05 lakh crore), he said.

Stating that DMIC project initiative Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) between Gurgaonman­esar-bawal over a length of around 82 km, would be implemente­d with an investment of about Rs 17,328 crore.

He said a total investment of Rs 80,000 crore has been materialis­ed in the state during the tenure of the present government.

He added that at the investment summit held in 2015 and Pravasi Haryana Diwas in 2016, a total 494 memorundum­s of understand­ing were (Mous) were signed from which the actual investment was about Rs 14,314 crore with employment opportunit­ies for 25,923 persons.

LOGISTICS POLICY

Stating that the Haryana government would soon implement a logistics and warehouse policy, the industries minister said that in order to further develop manufactur­ing and skill developmen­t under micro, small and medium enterprise­s (MSME) sector, tool room technology centres would be set up in IMT Rohtak with an investment of Rs 100 crore.

Goel said that a sum of Rs 224 crore had been invested in various clusters in the state and this scheme of the state government was lauded by the central government.
