BHARATPUR: A 17-year-old girl committed suicide in Dholpur after she was raped allegedly by a neighbour and two of his friends, who also made videos of the act, police said Saturday.

The girl was allegedly sexually assaulted on July 8 but committed suicide on July 11 following which her mother lodged a police complaint. In her complaint, the mother named Ayan Khan and his friends of raping her daughter at a city hotel after giving her a cold-drink laced with alcohol.

Based on her complaint Kotwali police on Friday registered an FIR against Ayan Khan under Sections 376 (rape) and 306 (abetment to suicide) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act on Friday. Ayan is the son of Israil Ahmed, vicechairman of the Dholpur Municipal council.

In her complaint, the victim’s mother said that her daughter was a student of class 10 at a private school in Agra. On July 8, she had started from her home for a coaching centre.

The mother alleged that Ayan Khan and his two colleagues picked her and took her to a hotel where they first gave her alcohollaced drink and then took turns sexually assaulting her. They also made videos. The complainant said the accused trio then dropped the girl home in seminude condition. She was inebriated and told her parents about the gang rape. Family members found her hanging from a ceiling fan on July 11.

SP, Dholpur, Rajesh Singh said a case has been registered against Ayan and his two aides for allegedly raping a minor. He said police are investigating the incident and accused will be arrested after investigation.

The incident comes days after a 13-year-old gangrape victim and her father sought permission from officials in Bharatpur to commit suicide “of their own free will”.

The father-daughter duo said they are tired of police inaction and the ignominy they were facing .
