ROHTAK : Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Ashok Tanwar said on Sunday he will not allow the sale of party tickets in the state and assured “hard-working” leaders and workers that they will not be sidelined.

Addressing a well-attended “Haryana Bachao-parivartan Laao” rally in Kalanaur township in Rohtak, which is the stronghold of his arch rival Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Tanwar said only those leaders and workers will get the party ticket who are honest and capable to strengthen the Congress.

Calling the BJP government anti-farmer, Tanwar said the water charges of the canal water are being doubled for the paddy season by the government, which will put further burden on the farmers who are already suffering very badly.

He said that the rise of drug menace in Haryana, particularly in border districts, was worrisome but the government had not taken any concrete measures to tackle the problem.

“The law and order has worsened in the state with incidents of rape, murder, drug smuggling and loot becoming common routine. But controlling crime is not in the agenda of this government,” he said.

Tanwar accused the govern- ment of looting the traders and small businessmen through demonetisation and goods and service tax (GST).

“BJP converted a lot of black money into white before demonetisation, that is why it is able to set up lavish offices everywhere,” he said.

Tanwar said the people in Haryana have made up their mind to throw out the BJP government and bring the Congress back.

“We are confident of not just winning, but getting more than 80 seats. The Congress will also form the government at the Centre under our president Rahul Gandhi’s leadership,” he said.

The Congress leader thanked the public for extending support to his rallies and said that the fourth phase of his ‘Cycle Yatra’ will start from Delhi-haryana Kundli border on August 21 and will conclude in Sonepat city on August 24.
