3 held for killing 30-yr-old Jalandhar man

JALANDHAR: Police on Thursday arrested three of the six accused involved in gunning down one Ajay Kumar, a resident of Balmiki Mohalla in Dakoha, on July 27.

The trio has been identified as Jagdeep Singh Jagga, Yograj Singh Yoga and Mukesh Kumar of Model Town.

Other accused at large are Gurwinder Singh of Pholriwal village, Arjun Sehgal of Central Town and Mukul Shergill of Deol Nagar.

Addressing a press conference, Jalandhar police commission­er PK Sinha said accused Arjun and Yograj had last year entered into a heated argument with victim Ajay outside the judicial courts after which, they decided to ‘teach the latter a lesson’.

Jalandhar police commission­er said the accused had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Ajay on July 27.

“The victim had succumbed to bullet injuries the next day,” he added.

He said bike used in the crime and a weapon had also been recovered.

“Police teams are conducting raids to nab the absconding accused,” he said, adding that Yograj has been brought on production warrant from prison.

A case was initially registered under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act, and charges of murder and criminal conspiracy were later added to the FIR.
