CASE REGISTERED BY CHARKHI DADRI POLICE AFTER VIDEO OF THE INCIDENT GOES VIRAL

ROHTAK : Taking cognisance of a video going viral on social media that shows three women being abused and thrashed with shoes by some men, the Charkhi Dadri police have registered a case against unidentified accused.

They have been booked under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354A (sexual harassment), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (words, gestures insulting modesty of women) of the IPC.

The police said the incident occurred on August 2 at a crusher in Badhra township of the district. But the victims and accused are yet to be traced.

“The FIR has been registered solely on the video that has gone viral on social media. We are close to tracing the victims and the accused, following which we will take the further action,” Badhra SHO Suraj Bhan said.

The viral video shows some men surrounding the three women and dragging them. They are thrashing the women turn by turn with a sandal and hurling abusive slurs at them as they fold hands and plead for mercy. Some of the men could also be seen asking the accused to stop, but he continues to thrash them.

The man who took the video can be heard narrating that the women have been accused of stealing iron from the crusher. The police have traced him to find out the date of the incident.

The incident comes close on the heels of a series of such incidents of vigilante justice in the state. Recently, a man was beaten to death on suspicion of cattle theft in Palwal district.
