‘No new govt hospital in Haryana since 2014’

THIS WAS REVEALED BY STATE HEALTH DEPT IN RESPONSE TO AN RTI QUERY; KHATTAR HAD ANNOUNCED GOVT’S PLAN TO OPEN 28 NEW HOSPITALS IN THE STATE

ROHTAK: The BJP government in Haryana has not set up any new government hospital in the state since coming to power in October 2014.

This was revealed by the health department in response to a Right to Information (RTI) query filed by Gurugrambased activist Harinder Dhingra.

Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced the government’s plan to open 28 new government hospitals.

But the health department did not answer the question seeking progress report on the announcement and the budget allocation for these hospitals. According to information shared, the state has 61 government hospitals functioning at present.

The BJP government has neither opened nor shut any government hospital, the reply stated.

The government though increased the seats at BPS Medical College in Sonepat from 100 to 150.

Attacking the government on this front, former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda had recently tweeted that he had, under his 10-year rule as CM, opened four new government medical colleges in Mewat, Sonepat, Karnal and Faridabad, besides bringing AIIMS to Jhajjar .

Hooda had sought information from the government about how many medical colleges it had opened in last four years.
