JAMMU: The family of the youth who was shot dead last week in a retaliatory action by the security forces, when he forced his entry to former CM Farooq Abdullah’s residence in Jammu, demanded registration of an FIR against the CRPF personnel.

The city administration had already ordered a magisterial probe into the incident, described by police as a “security breach”.

“We demand registration of an FIR within 72 hours against the CRPF personnel whose pictures as well names are with the police. The two should be arrested and interrogated for their act,” said Junaid Hashmi, one of the relatives of the deceased in a presser here on Tuesday.

“Why no court of inquiry has been instituted against the CRPF men for the breach of security as being said ?,”questioned Hashmi.

He claimed that the magisterial inquiry order by the deputy commissioner Jammu is of no consequence and it merely a time buying exercise.

“This seems like a time buying exercise and not a serious effort to nab culprits. Police should have started the investigation by now but it appears that higherups do not want CRPF men to be booked and the case to be taken to a logical conclusion,” he said.

Hashmi claimed that Murfad was innocent and accused police of disseminating fake theories that he had become a radical.

Questioning the police version, he asked how Shah managed to reach the lobby of the house when there was no damage to the gate or vehicle which should have been the case if he had driven his vehicle through the closed door.

“It is very difficult to understand how an intruder got access to two former chief minister’s lobby – the inner private area of their residence,” he asked.

The family also demanded for the CCTV footage of the crime scene.

Meanwhile, wailing sister of Murfad, Syed Shafia Shah, said, “We only want justice for my brother. He was not a drug addict and was fitness freak who would go to gym twice a day, as could be seen from hundreds of his pictures on the Facebook profile. It was a cold-blooded murder.”
