Mohali SSP Kuldeep Chahal to get police medal for gallantry
CHANDIGARH:THE Punjab government has chosen Mohali senior superintendent of police (SSP) Kuldeep Singh Chahal for police medal for gallantry.
Additional director general of police (ADGP security) RN Dhoke and Kapurthala SSP Satinder Singh have been selected for the President’s police medal for distinguished services.
The medals will be given on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day on Wednesday. Chahal is being awarded police medal for gallantry for the encounter of gangster Gursewak Singh alias Shera Khubban, wanted in several cases of murder and robbery, in 2012. Chahal, was then posted as assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in Bathinda. He had also received threats on social media after the encounter.
Also, 13 more police officials will be awarded with police medal for meritorious services.

A Punjab Police spokesperson said assistant inspector general (AIG personnel) Sukhwant Singh Gill; Gurpreet Singh, commandant, Commando Training Centre, Patiala; inspector Gurmej Singh; SIS Bhajan Singh, Manmohan Singh, Jugal Kishore, Chamba Lal, Bithal Hari, Satnam Singh, ASIS Lakhwinder Singh, Rajni Devi, Chanchal Singh and head constable Deep Kumar will get police medal for meritorious services. Punjab director general of police (DGP) Suresh Arora conveyed his best wishes to all those receiving the honour.
