CHANDIGARH: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) on Monday gave a call for Haryana bandh for September 8. The leader of opposition in Haryana assembly, Abhay Chautala, said the call in support of the demand for the construction of the SYL canal, Dadupur Nalvi canal and securing water from the Agra canal was earlier given for August 18, but had to be postponed due to the demise of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Abhay, who was addressing media after the party working committee meeting here, said it was also decided in the meeting that all INLD MPS and MLAS will donate a month’s salary to the relief fund for flood-hit Kerala besides raising money from the party district units and individuals. “The committee has also decided that the Haryana government will be urged to bring a comprehensive bill in the Vidhan Sabha to rescue the government contractual employees, who faced a bleak future in view of the adverse Punjab and Haryana High Court judgment,” he added.

The INLD supported the demand of the traders that e-trading and direct payment system be stopped forthwith and various slabs of taxation be reduced to only two with the maximum being 18%, Abhay said.

The leader of opposition, who was accompanied by INLD state president Ashok Arora, announced that ‘Samman Divas’ celebrated on the birth anniversary of former deputy prime minister Devi Lal will be held on September 25 in Gohana.
