WE MUST TRUST IN GOD, BUT WE MUST FIRST HELP OURSELVES

‘Trust in god but tie your camel first’ is a well known expression which implies, ‘prepare yourself first and then depend on God’.

This comes from the story of an irresponsible disciple who was in charge of a camel. He left the camel untied outside, and simply prayed to god for its protection.

The next morning when the camel was gone, he was questioned to which he innocently replied, “I don’t know, I prayed to God thrice for its protection as I have a lot of faith and trust in God.”

The camel was lost due to the irresponsibility and laziness of the disciple but the disciple seemed to be angry with God for breaking his trust. Many of us do this often, too.

God fulfils our desires only when we are efficient and active. God wants from us sincerity in action, purity in heart and clarity of mind.

For any work, goal or project to be completed, we can trust God for its completion only when we are sincere in our work, following the laws of nature.

God will not stop the rain for us; we will have to carry an umbrella.

If one goes to an examination absolutely unprepared saying he puts his trust in God, it would be naive to assume that he would pass the exam.

The crux is that even if we have deepseated faith in a higher power, we should not shun responsibility for our lives.
