Ranjit report all guesswork, makes mere insinuations, claims Sukhbir

Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Badal on Tuesday claimed that the Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) Commission report on sacrilege incidents in Punjab in 2015 makes only insinuations against the previous Shiromani Akali DalBharatiya Janata Party (SADBJP) government as it is based on assumptions and guesswork only.

Speaking to mediapersons after a mock assembly session by the SAD-BJP legislators in the Vidhan Sabha lounge, Sukhbir said, “This is a hazy, vague and un-judicial (sic) report ever authored by a former judge. Despite trying his best to implicate the previous government on the sacrilege issue, Ranjit Singh has miserably failed to come up with anything concrete against the then government or any of our leaders.”

“The only thing that Ranjit Singh was able to insinuate against former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal is that he was awake till 2am on the day Bargari was tense,” the Akali Dal chief said.

“Little does the judge know how much he (Badal) was disturbed by the events. The judge evaluates Badal by the standards of Amarinder Singh who would have been asleep at that time without bothering about what was happening in his state,” said the former deputy CM.

He said, “The Congress government and the commission tried their best to invent things to link the then government with sacrilege. This is a conspiracy to defame the Akali Dal among the Sikh masses.”
