Karnal police bust gang of women thieves, four from Punjab arrested
POLICE SAID THE ARRESTED WOMEN ADMITTED TO STEALING GOLD ORNAMENTS FROM WOMEN IN A CROWDED BUSES ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY 44
The Karnal police busted a gang of highway thieves and arrested four women of Punjab for their involvement in theft cases in moving buses.
The accused have been identified as Parkasho Devi of Nabha; Sharanjeet Kaur of Bhadson; Roop Kaur of Samana of Patiala district and Murti Kaur of Bhawanigarh of Sangrur district.
Giving information, Virender Kumar, in-charge of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Karnal police, said the police received complaints that some women were stealing gold ornaments in a crowded moving buses on the National Highway 44.
He said that they arrested the accused after scanning the footage of a CCTV camera installed at green belt in Sector 6 of Karnal.
He said that the accused have also admitted to their involvement in theft of ornaments in a bus on August 25. The police recovered gold ornaments and an iron cutter from their possession.
Kumar further said that they have booked the accused under Section 379 A (punishment for theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and will be produced in court and police will seek their remand for further interrogation.
He said that they will also contact the Punjab Police to check on their criminal background.
