A man allegedly beat his 90-year-old father to death over property dispute at Gholia Khurd in Nihal Singh Wala subdivision of Moga district on Monday night.

The incident came to light after the daughter of the accused, Sewak Singh (50), told the villagers about the incident.

The victim has been identified as Kirpal Singh.

Police said the two quarreled as Sewak wanted to sell a 10-marla house with Kirpal opposing his decision.

When Sewak approached Kirpal for selling the house on Monday, the verbal spat between the two turned ugly.

Sewak started beating his father who succumbed to injuries, the police said.

Sewak’s elder daughter witnessed the episode but he threatened his sister to remain silent.

“Sewak told the villagers that his father passed away. But his daughter informed them what actually had transpired,” said a police official.
