PHILLAUR (JALANDHAR) : The vigilance bureau (VB) arrested a sub-inspector (SI), Bakshish Singh, from Phillaur police station while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 on Friday.
Complainant Vijay Kumar, a resident of Nangal village of Phillaur subdivision, had approached the VB claiming that the SI was demanding a bribe of ₹5,000 to present a case challan before the district court in a suicide case against his son.
The complainant said his son Ravi Kumar, who was posted as an instructor at the police academy in Phillaur, committed suicide after a tiff with his wife Rajvir Kaur in 2016.
