Vij recommends suspension of Panipat regional officer of PCB

KARNAL: Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Friday recommende­d the suspension of the regional officer of Haryana pollution control board for negligence in duty.

Vij, who was chairing a meeting of the district grievances redressal committee in Panipat, recommende­d the suspension of the Haryana pollution control board Bhupinder Singh Chahal for irregulari­ties in an investigat­ion assigned to him.

As per informatio­n, the Haryana health minister acted on a complaint filed by a farmer of Panipat, who alleged that officer did not take the action to stop flow of polluted factory waste in their fields.

The official allegedly had claimed that the issue was sorted out mutually.

The Haryana health minister also exhorted officials to discharge their duties with honesty.

Earlier, the minister heard 15 complaints and 12 of them were sorted out on the spot during the grievance redressal committee meeting.

VIGILANCE BUREAU ARRESTED TWO MEN FOR TAKING BRIBE

A team of the vigilance bureau of Karnal on Friday arrested a reader of Panipat Revenue Officer and computer operator for taking bribe of ₹200 and ₹1,500 respective­ly.

As per the official spokespers­on of the bureau, they have got a complaint from Surender Singh of Panipat’s Sutana village. He alleged that the reader, Jagbir Singh and computer operator Deepak Kumar, were demanding bribe in a lieu of settling a pending case against him.

The vigilance team arrested them red-handed and filed a case under the relevant sections of the Anti Corruption Act.
