ON SATURDAY, PHOOLKA HAD GIVEN A 15DAY ULTIMATUM TO THE GOVERNMENT FOR REGISTERING A CASE AGAINST RAM RAHIM

LUDHIANA: Aam Aadmi Party leader HS Phoolka launched a scathing attack on Congress for “going soft” on Dera Sacha Sauda sect head Gurmeet Ram Rahim in view of the ensuing elections.

Addressing the media at a local hospital, Phoolka also said Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was trying to take a political mileage out of the sacrilege incidents. “Elections for Lok Sabha and Haryana assembly are around the corner. And Congress wants to cash in the votes of Ram Rahim’s followers. That is the reason why Rahul has directed Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh to go soft in pursuing the case against Ram Rahim,” Phoolka said.

Phoolka had on Saturday given a 15-day ultimatum to the government for registering a case against Ram Rahim and the then Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal for their alleged involvement in Bargari sacrilege and subsequent firing incident in Behbal Kalan, respectively. Phooka had said that if the two were not booked by September 16, he will quit as an MLA.

He said Akali Dal, Congress and forces within his own party were mounting pressure on him for reviewing the pledge to resign. Referring to the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission report, Phoolka said the panel has found involvement of Ram Rahim and his followers in the Bargari sacrilege incident.

“They have sent two or three cases to the CBI pertaining to sacrilege. In these cases, only Ram Rahim will be made an accused and not Badal and the then DGP Saini. Badal and Saini should be booked for firing incident at Behbal Kalan. I have the supplementary report, which states that the CM and DGP were aware of the firing,” Phoolka.
