GURUGRAM: The Gurugram Police’s crime branch has arrested three members of interstate gang ‘Kranti’ — which had reportedly gained notoreity for leaving behind printed pamphlets boasting of the gang’s identity at crime spots — for their alleged involvement in over 36 cases, including those of murder, attempt to murder, loot and dacoity across Delhi, Rohtak and Gurugram, police said.

Among the accused is 22-yearold Abhishek alias Ashu, a Btech graduate from Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, police said, adding that he was lured into joining the gang by Sanjeet Vidrohi, the man operating the gang. However, Vidrohi and Rajesh Bharti, the kingpin of the gang, were killed in a gunfight with Delhi Police in south Delhi’s Chhattarpur on June 9.

Police said the other two arrested accused have been identified as 20-year-old Vinit alias Tirish from 8 Biswa Gurgaon village and 22-year-old Pavan alias Kalia from Rohtak. Both had dropped out of school and entered the crime world, police said.

Manoj Verma, the crime investigation agency in-charge of Palam Vihar, said the accused were, on Saturday, produced in a district court, which remanded them in police custody for two days. On Monday, the court remanded them in judicial custody. “The accused are historysheeters who took to crime about two years ago at the behest of Vidrohi. The gang was mainly operational in Haryana and Delhi,” Verma said. Police said Abhishek and Vinit had, in June this year, allegedly robbed an Innova at gunpoint from Leisure Valley Park. They had also stolen a Baleno car from Sector 14 market on June 16. Earlier this year, the duo had shot at a Gadoli resident in Garhi Harsaru village.
