Dowry harassment: Woman’s husband, father-in-law booked

TARN TARAN: A 24-year-old woman’s husband and father-inlaw have been booked for allegedly harassing her for dowry and evicting her from their house, here on Monday.

The victim has been identified as Kulwinder Kaur of Naushehra Pannua village.

The accused have been identified as Jagbir Singh,husband, and father-in-law Dalbir Singh of Munda Pind village, falling in Khadoor Sahib sub-division.

The victim had lodged a complaint with SSP Darshan Singh Mann in April this year.

The complaint was also marked to the then SP, headquarte­r, Tilak Raj.

Presently, the case is being probed by SP headquarte­r, Gurnam Singh, who submitted his report to the SSP, following which the case was registered.

In her complaint, the woman had alleged that she married with Jagbir Singh, a farmer by profession, in August, 2017 and soon after her marriage her husband and father-in-law started harassing her for dowry.

SSP Mann said on the basis of the inquiry conducted by SP, headquarte­r, a case under Sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.

“A team has been dispatched to arrest the father and son duo.the accused will be arrested soon,” he said.
