GURUGRAM: A former armyman was arrested late Sunday night for allegedly exposing himself indecently in front of four children, three boys and one girl aged between nine and 11 years, in Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, police said on Monday.

According to the police, the accused, identified as 61-year-old Radhe Krishan, had made obscene gestures and flashed children in an earlier incident on July 31 this year.

On Friday, Krishan allegedly stopped his motorcycle in a lane in Ashok Vihar, where three boys and a girl were playing. He unzipped his trousers and exposed himself in front of the children before fleeing, police said, adding that one of the children informed a man in their neighbourhood, who reported the matter to the police.

Police said the accused was traced and arrested with the help of footage from closed circuit television (CCTV) camera installed at a house in the locality. Kamlesh, the investigating officer in the case, said the address of the accused was located using the motorcycle registration number and he was arrested from his house in Sector 104 on Sunday.

A case was registered against the accused under Section 8 (punishment for sexual assault) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Sector 5 police station.

“One of the victims identified the accused as the man who had made obscene gestures on an earlier occasion too. The accused was produced in district court on Monday and sent to Bhondsi jail,” said Kamlesh, who uses her first name.

Police said the accused had retired from the army as a naik in 1997 and had been working as a security guard at a farmhouse in the city for the past few years.

According to the police, the accused has been taking medication for an illness for the past four months. “His wife said that he had been to a doctor for a suspected mental health problem, but he was not taking his medicines regularly,” Kamlesh said.

A 23-year-old woman was allegedly abused by three men, who passed lewd remarks at her, when she was riding a scooter on Sunday. Police said the complainant was on her scooter when three motorcycle-borne men started following her and passed lewd comments.
