Haryana CM announces Unorganised Workers Social Security Board
KARNAL: Accepting the long pending demand of the unorganised labourers, Haryana chief minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday, announced to set-up Unorganised Workers Social Security Board. Khattar, who was addressing a gathering at the state-level Rajkiya Shramik Divas here, said that the board would look into the demands of lakhs of unorganised workers in the state.
Accompanied by minister of state for labour and employment Nayab Saini, the CM also laid the foundation stone of Sharmik Bhawan, to be set-up in Panchkula.
Showering sops on the workers of both organised and unorganised sectors, the CM announced that registered workers over the age of 60 would not get a monthly pension of ₹2,500 instead of ₹1,000. The CM also gave his assurance to accept all 33 demands raised by Nayab Saini.
Khattar also expressed his concerns that the number of organised workers was only 25% and the rest 75% were unorganised.
He further announced that about 8.5 lakh poor families included in socio-economic caste census out of 14 lakh families in the state would get the benefit of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme that would be launched by the Prime Minister on September 23. He said that those eligible families who were left in the earlier survey would also be given the benefit of medical assistance upto ₹5 lakh by the Construction Workers Welfare Board.
The CM also said that the government has taken several steps for the welfare of workers and the government has already increased financial assistance on the death of a registered worker from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh.
‘ENDED TREND OF NAMING VARSITIES AFTER POLITICIANS’
Khattar, however slammed the former chief ministers for setting up universities in the name of their fathers and politicians like late Devi Lal University in Sirsa and Chaudhary Ranbir Hooda University in Jind.
“The earlier leaders set up universities in the state after the names of politicians and fathers of the CMS, though we are not against any of these leaders, but we have ended this trend and named several institutions after the name of great personalities such as Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaye, who were inspirational for the countrymen.”
LEADS CLEANLINESS DRIVE
In the morning on Monday, Khattar also led a cleanliness drive at Valmiki Basti of Karnal and cleaned a street along with officials of the Karnal district administration. He also asked the people of Karnal to extend their support to the government and keep their city clean.
