JALANDHAR : Communist Party of India (CPI) senior leader and national committee member Joginder Dayal on Sunday launched attack on the Akali Dal and said that sacrilege incidents are religious issues, not communal, and it is wrong to say that there is a rift between Sikhs and Hindus after it.

While addressing a press conference here, Joginder Dayal said, “There is no threat to the communal harmony of Punjab. Sacrilege incidents have only affected the Badals, who are trying to turn the religious incidents into communal. The Badals should stop using these tactics.”

He said Badals deliberately issued a statement that sacrilege incidents are a threat to communal harmony and it showed that Akali supremo is attempting to provoke trouble in the state. Dayal asked the Akali Dal to serve a time-bound ultimatum to the BJP for withdrawing the latest notification on Chandigarh, or SAD should break their alliance with the BJP.

He said the CPI party also sought rigorous punishment for culprits of sacrilege and Behbal Kalan firing incident. He said that CPI is going to launch a campaign from Dhoot Kalan village to raise issues of farm labourers from October 2. He demanded that the Centre should pass a comprehensive central legislation for agriculture workers, which has been blocked by the feudal lords. He said, “Earlier, left parties were raising issue of class only but caste was the reality of India and CPI will take up the issues of Dalits more prominently as it needs to be addressed by the Left.”
