VICTIM TOLD THE POLICE THAT FOUR MEN HELD THE VICTIM AT GUNPOINT AFTER TAKING A LIFT AND FORCED HIM TO GET THE OFF CAR BEFORE DRIVING OFF

GURUGRAM: A 27-year-old Delhibased software engineer was allegedly robbed off his Volkswagen Polo at gunpoint from Rajokri Flyover, on Gurugramdelhi border on Thursday night.

The incident took place while he was returning home from office along with his colleague.

Police said four men held the victim at gunpoint after taking a lift and forced him to get the off car before driving off.

Prateek Bobal, a resident of Shalimar Bag, Delhi, who owned the car, said it was around 9.15pm when they were crossing Iffco Chowk. He said four men asked for a lift, prompting him to stop the car. The four men climbed into the passenger seat at the back, Bobal said, adding that they wanted to be dropped off at Punjabi Bagh in Delhi.

“I told them I can drop them at Wazirpur as I was going towards Shalimar Bagh,” Bobal said.

Bobal said when they reached the flyover, one of the men sitting on the rear seat took him at gunpoint and asked him to stop the car and get down without making any noise. “I was scared. They told me and my colleague to pick up whatever we wanted from the car and leave.

My friend and I got down and picked our laptop bags. It was then that one of the passengers in the rear seat sneaked out of the car and ran towards Delhi. I realised he wasn’t part of the gang,” Bobal said.

The victim went home and informed his family members, who lodged a complaint with Gurugram police the day after. A case was registered at Sector 18 police station under sections 379B (snatching) and 34 (common intention) of IPC and under relevant sections of Arms Act against the three accused persons.

Bobal, who is based in Delhi and has an office in Sector 44, Gurugram, said the car was purchased in April this year.

The police said a case has been registered and the matter is being probed. “The CCTV footage from various sources has been obtained. The accused will be nabbed soon,” Sumit Kuhar, deputy commissioner of police(crime), said.
