Sharma out, Lahiri to pair Bhullar in Cup

MELBOURNE: Anirban Lahiri has chosen nine-time Asian Tour winner Gaganjeet Bhullar as his partner after Shubhankar Sharma pulled out of the Melbourne World Cup of Golf from November 21-25.

Shubhankar Sharma, who was committed to three PGA Tour events in Asia, is also due to play three events in Turkey, South Africa and Dubai making it six weeks in a row.

With events in Hong Kong and Joburg, where Sharma will be defending his title, and Mauritius and Indonesia also due before the year ends, the Indian youngster will have his hands full.

Following Sharma’s withdrawal, Lahiri was given the option to select a partner to join him in Melbourne.

“Gagan has been playing very consistent­ly this year and had an amazing win in Fiji.

He’s got a really solid allaround game and practicall­y no weaknesses,” Lahiri said.
