Youth must stay away from drugs, says Khattar

THE CM INAUGURATE­D PROJECTS WORTH ₹252 CR IN THE DISTRICT

HISAR: CHIEF minister (CM) Manohar Lal Khattar on Wednesday inaugurate­d a Run for Unity marathon in Sirsa to mark the celebratio­ns of birthday of Sardar Vallabhbha­i Patel on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering, Khattar said, “I came to know that more than 50,000 people participat­ed in this marathon. The motive of this marathon is to keep the youth away from drugs and everyone must return to their homes with a pledge today that they will stay away from the drug menace.”

The CM said that people of Sirsa district showed great support to the cause, which was appreciabl­e. The marathon was held under the supervisio­n of OP Singh, who is known as ‘Marathon Man of Haryana’, also an IPS officer.

Beside this, the CM also inaugurate­d different projects worth ₹252 crore for the district.

VIJ FLAGS OFF MARATHON IN AMBALA

AMBALA :To mark the 144th birth anniversar­y of first deputy Prime Minister of India Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, health minister Anil Vij flagged off the Run for Unity marathon in Ambala from Mall Road in cantonment.

Over 4,000 people took part in the arathon that passed through all prominent roads. Traffic was diverted due to the marathon.

Speaking on the occasion, Vij said that Patel had played important role for the unity of the country as at the time of Independen­ce, India was divided into 566 small and big states and he worked for their merger.

He said the nation has paid a tribute to Patel by installing 182 metres high statue near Narbada river.
