Stir against Cong: Jagir Kaur mobilises women workers
Apprises party workers of Class12 history book issue and allegations being faced by state minister Charanjit Singh Channi under the # Metoo campaign
AMRITSAR: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) women wing, Istri Akali Dal (IAD), president Bibi Jagir Kaur on Wednesday mobilised the party workers for stir against the Congress government in Punjab.
Kaur presided over a meeting of the office bearers of the wing held at Bhai Gurdas Hall near the Golden Temple. “Office bearers from across Punjab and other states also attended the meeting,” said Kaur.
During the meeting, which lasted for around 90 minutes, she apprised the women workers of the alleged distortions in Class-12 history book and the allegations being faced by Punjab minister Charanjit Singh Channi under # Metoo campaign.
While interacting with the media, Kaur who has also remained president of the SGPC, said the Congress government has committed a blasphemous act by distorting the Sikh history in the Class- 12 book.
She said, “This is a deep rooted conspiracy of Congress to change history of the Sikhs. This act is like the 1984 attack on the Golden Temple .”
‘THE MATT ER IS NOT OVER’
Kaur said, “The matter is not over (referring to the withdrawing of the book by chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh). this has hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikhs as it also contains derogatory words. An FIR should be registered against the publisher and the committee who compiled the book.”
On the issue of allegations against Channi, she said, “He himself has admitted that he had sent the message to the woman IAS officer. Captain should remove him from the cabinet and book him.”
Kaur said that the wing will participate in the stir launched by the party against the Congress government. “We will also participate in the ‘ardas’ being performed the party workers at Akal Takht on Thursday,” she said, adding the wing will also support the agitation planned at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, on November 3 to seek justice for the 1984 anti-sikh riot victims.
