Rahul repeats speeches like a stuck record: PM

-

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi over his recent remarks, saying he repeats things in his speeches like a gramophone that gets stuck.

Modi said people will not accept Gandhi’s “childish” claims and “lies” and that they make “fun” of such remarks.

Replying to a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) booth-level worker from Madhya Pradesh’s Betul, Modi said: “Earlier, there were gramophone records. Sometimes, the pin would get stuck and same words would be repeated again and again. There are some people whose pin gets stuck.”

The worker was asking a question about Gandhi pitching for setting up of mobile phone factories across the country.

Responding to the BJP worker’s question, Modi said people from the Opposition don’t know that times have changed and they should not treat people like fools. Modi said the country had become a leading manufacturer of mobiles, with over 100 factories producing them under his government, compared to only two that existed when he came to power in 2014.

Modi said people should draw entertainment from Gandhi’s remarks.

Reacting to Modi’s remarks, Congress spokesperson Pranav Jha said: “If the BJP workers are indeed asking these questions from Modi, then no one can save the BJP.”
