KARNAL BIZMAN SHOT DEAD IN BIHAR

PURNIA : Unidentifi­ed criminals shot dead a 62-year-old businessma­n of Karnal (Haryana), dealing in sale of agricultur­e tools for last two years, in town area on Friday evening.

Purnia SP Vishal Sharma said, “On the basis of complaint of victim’s son Aman Kapoor, a named FIR has been lodged against three persons. Police are investigat­ing the case.”

Police said the incident took place when two unidentifi­ed criminals wearing helmet entered Krishna Mohan Kapoor’s shop at around 7 pm on Friday and fired on him from close range. Kapoor was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

“With the help of the CCTV footage we are trying to identify the criminals,” the SP said.

Son of the victim said, “While we were shifting to a new rented house the criminals shot my father who was inside the shop.” He did not rule out business rivalry behind the incident. “Two days back we were threatened with dire consequenc­es by some locals and asked to wind up the business in Purnia.”

Local people said the victim was quite popular among farmers and this might be the reason behind his killing.

President of Purnia chapter of chamber of commerce, Jagat Lal Vaishantri demanded immediate arrest of the assailants. He has also demanded security for the business community.
