TARN TARAN: Targeting Khadoor Sahib MP Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, former Youth Akali Dal core committee member Iqbal Singh Sandhu said, Saturday that the MP was playing dirty politics in the name of Guru Granth Sahib.

Sandhu was addressing a rally, in a show of strength, under the banner of NGO Fateh Group at Piddi village in Khadoor Sahib constituency.

“Where was he when Bargari sacrilege and Kotakpura firing took place? Why didn’t he raise his voice while he was enjoying power?” asked Sandhu.

Sandhu, who is also the president of Fateh Group, organised the rally six days after Brahmpura had held a similar show targeting SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia at the historic Chohla Sahib village.

Brahmpura had resigned as SAD’S senior vice-president, core committee member and chairman of disciplinary committee on October 23.

Brahmpura, along with former MP Rattan Singh Ajnala and ex-minister Sewa Singh Sekhwan, had raised a banner of revolt against Sukhbir. they had also boycotted the party’s Patiala rally on October 7.The party expelled Sekhwan for ‘anti-party activities’ on November 3.

Sandhu, who has also remained member of Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSB) and district president of SAD’S youth wing, was expelled from the party by junior Badal for ‘anti-party activities’ in March.

After his expulsion, Sandhu made Fateh Group and has been working in Khadoor Sahib constituency. Sandhu has been claiming that Brahmpura got him expelled.

Addressing the rally, Sandhu said, “Brahmpura and his son Ravinder Singh Brahmpura enjoyed all the luxuries when it was SAD government in Punjab. If Brahmpura respected Guru Granth Sahib, he should have resigned from all party posts.”

He said, “Junior Brahmpura fought by-elections after Congress MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki resigned, following the Bargari incident. After winning the polls, in which Congress had boycotted, the father-son duo danced. This shows they have no respect for the holy book and are only greedy for posts.”

Sandhu also indicated that he may fight next assembly elections from Khadoor Sahib constituency. He said, “People of Khadoor Sahib have been suffering from problems like corruption, drugs, unemployment. I want to raise their problems in Punjab assembly.”

Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, however, said, “The rally was planned by Bikram Singh Majithia just to target our family. Baring few people from Khadoor Sahib constituency, the gathering was mobilised from other constituencies.”
