PATIALA:A Patiala court on Saturday extended the police remand of Shabnamdeep Singh, member of terrorist organisation Khalistan Gadar Force, and his aide and Gursewak Singh till November 14.

Punjab Police on November 1 busted a Pakistan-inter-services Intelligence (ISI) sponsored terror module and arrested Shabnamdeep. His key aide Gursewak was arrested the next day.

A hand grenade, a pistol, letter pads belonging to a banned terror organisation and a motorcycle were recovered from Shabnamdeep, who planned to attack police stations and crowded places in the festive season. Gursewak confessed to have assisted Shabnamdeep in transporting grenades and pistol.

Meanwhile, teams of the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Rajasthan anti-terrorism squad are interrogating Shabnamdeep and Gursewak for the past three days. Senior superintendent of police Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the case is being investigated thoroughly from all angles.

“We got some vital leads but cannot disclose at this stage,” SSP said. BATHINDA: Farmers under the banner of BKU (Ekta – Sidhupur) on Saturday held a protest outside the district administrative complex here demanding purchase of the paddy, irrespective of level of moisture content in it.

Led by union leaders of Bathinda, Muktsar and Mansa, the farmers started their indefinite fast. As per them, the delay in paddy sowing was the reason behind the high-moisture content in the crop this year.

They demanded the state government to ensure that the paddy was purchased by agencies, irrespective of the level of moisture, which they claimed was above permissible limit of 17%.

The protesters said they will continue the stir till the crop was purchased from the grains markets across the state.
