Weatherman predicts another spell of rain, snow in Himachal

SHIMLA : The meteorolog­ical department has predicted another spell of rainfall and snow in the state from November 12 to 14.

Higher reaches of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti are expected to get snowfall from November 12. Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Mandi, Kullu, Chamba. The lower areas of Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Kangra are expected to get rainfall on November 13 and 14, followed by a dry spell from November 15.

Weather remained dry in the state on Saturday.

However, minimum temperatur­es were normal and maximum temperatur­es were 1 to 2°C below normal.

On Saturday, lowest temperatur­e was recorded in Keylong at minus 2.6°C.

Most tourist places like Shimla, Narkanda, Kufri, Manali and Dalhousie located in midhills might witness rains. However, high-altitude areas like Kalpa and Chitkul in Kinnaur district and Keylong in Lahaul-spiti district can have moderate snowfall, the MET department said.

Meanwhile, Shimla which has been witnessing sunny days, saw a decrease in temperatur­e to 9.0 ° Celsius on Saturday and the maximum temperatur­e was recorded at 19.4 °C.

The Border Road Organisati­on (BRO) has issued an alert to the Lahaul and Spiti administra­tion to send the required food material and other necessary things before the spell of rain and snowfall.

The BRO has also informed public to cross the Rohtang pass before the snowfall.

According to the BRO, if the Rohtang Pass gets blocked due to snowfall in November, there will be less chances to restore it.

The Rohtang pass will be closed for transporta­tion from November 15 officially.

The BRO has already shifted its labourers and machines to Manali.sub-divisional magistrate Amar Negi appealed to the local public to complete their work through the Rohtang Pass before November 12.
