Four arrested with guns, intoxicants
JALANDHAR: Rural police arrested four persons in separate incidents and seized two .12 bore pistols, one .32 bore pistol, one .32 bore revolver, .12 bore rifle, 12 cartridges, 980 intoxicant tablets and a motorcycle without a registration number.
The accused have been identified as 21-year-old Sanjiv Kumar of Mallian village, 23-year-old Vijay Kumar of Bheekha Nangal in Jalandhar, 25-year-old Vijay Kumar of Mohalla Ramu Di Basti in Kapurthala and 20-year-old Suraj Singh of Basti Peer Daad in Jalandhar.
Superintendent of police (SSP) Navjot Singh Mahal said that on September 13, a police team team of Adampur pset up a naka at Y-point Jandusingha. They stopped two persons on a bike who identified themselves as Sanjiv Kumar and Vijay Kumar . Upon checking, cops found 980 intoxicant tablets. They were detained and frisked upon which a .32 bore revolver and five cartridges were recovered from Sanjiv and a .12 bore pistol and two cartridges were recovered from Sanjiv and Vijay respectively.
Mahal said both accused were taken on remand, and they disclosed they had sold a rifle to Satvir Singh of Daudpur, who was also detained. The weapons and cartridges had been provided to Sanjiv and Vijay by Suraj Singh of Jalandhar and Vijay Kumar of Kapurthala.
The SSP said that in another case on Sunda, ASI Bhupinder Pal Singh and team who were patrolling near Mehmadpur detained a person who tried to flee from the spot. He identified himself as Vijay, and upon being frisked, cops seized .12 bore pistol and two cartridges from him.
Mahal said ASI Nishan Singh of Adampur police also detained a person who tried to run away from the spot after spotting cops near village Chomo Bridge. Upon being frisked, cops recovered .32 bore one pistol and three cartridges.
