85 in fray for 4 seats in Ggm

As many as 58 candidates file nomination papers on the last day

GURUGRAM: ON the last day of filing nomination­s, 58 candidates, including independen­ts and those associated with different political parties, filed their nomination­s in the four assembly segments of Gurugram district, taking the total number to 85, according to the district election office.

Gurgaon, Badshahpur, Sohna and Pataudi assembly constituen­cies fall in Gurugram district. The list of the candidates will be scrutinize­d on October 5 and the last day for withdrawin­g the nomination­s is October 7.

The state will go to polls on October 21 and results will be announced on October 24.

In Gurgaon constituen­cy, 27 candidates are in the fray, after 19 nomination­s were filed on the last day. None of the major political parties has given a ticket to a woman candidate.

From Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Manish Yadav filed the nomination for the Badshahpur seat, while Sudhir Singla filed his nomination from Gurgaon. A large meeting of workers was organised by Yadav in Sector 10, attended by Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh and senior BJP functionar­ies, village leaders and a large number of supporters from Badshahpur.

From the Congress, Sukhbir Kataria, who was a state minister during the Congress government in 2009-2014, filed his nomination from Gurgaon. Kataria said that people of Gurgaon are facing a lot of difficulti­es due to lack of developmen­t and poor infrastruc­ture.

Other candidates who filed the nomination from Gurgaon included Brahm Prakash of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Sube Singh Bohra of the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP), Tarvinder Saini of the Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP), Narender Singh of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). The independen­ts included Anita Agarwal, wife of BJP rebel Umesh Agarwal, Congress rebel leader Gaje Singh Kablana, Pramila Devi, Ashwani Sharma, who is an MCG councillor, Seema Pahuja also an MCG councillor, Abhinav Vashisht, Govind Naryan Khem, Kuldeep Singh Singh Bohra, Vikas and Dinesh Kumar.
