LUDHIANA: Police on Monday booked two Ludhiana financiers for abetment to suicide, a day after bodies of three brothers were found hanging at their rented accommodation here.

The siblings had left an eightpage suicide note in which they accused two financiers of harassing and duping them of ₹1 crore.

The father of the deceased was the first to discover the bodies. Hearing his cries, neighbours alerted the police. Dehlon police station in-charge sub-inspector

Manjit Kaur said while two bodies were hanging from iron grilles in the lobby, the third one was found hanging from a ceiling fan in a room.

“The bodies had started decomposing. It is suspected that the trio hanged themselves 2-3 days ago,” she said. The SHO added that the deceased 85-yearold

father was bed-ridden and mentally unstable.

His sons used to cook for him and feed him. On Sunday, when he realised that his sons have not fed him, he started calling them. When no one responded, he managed to crawl up to the lobby and found the bodies.

The SHO added that the trio in the suicide note alleged that they had borrowed money from Kuldeep Singh and Kulwant Singh but failed to return it within the stipulated time.

The brothers alleged that the accused forced them to transfer the power of attorney of their land in their favour. The financiers had promised to pay them Rs 1 crore after selling the plot for Rs 1.25 crore. However, they just gave them Rs 12 lakh and refused to hand over rest of the money.

The hunt is on for the two accused, who have been booked under sections 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC, said the SHO.
