Motorcycle thieves caught: 20 bikes, 10 phones seized
JALANDHAR:: Rural police busted a gang of bike thieves and arrested four of its members in Gaddowali village of the district on Saturday. 20 stolen motocycles and 10 cellphones have been seized from the gang members.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Navjot Singh Mahal said that on November 15, SHO Lambra police station sub-inspector Pushap Bali received a tip-off that the gang had assembled near an abandoned brick kiln in Gaddowali village and were planning to strike in the locality.
Bali and his team and raided the spot and nabbed four of them.

The gang members include 26-year-old Sethi Singh of Kutbewal village, 26-year-old Prabhjeet Singh of Jhal Bibri village in Kapurthala, 23-year-old Balwinder Singh and 36-year-old Bukkan Singh of Ballno village in Jalandhar district.

14 CASES SOLVED
With the busting of the gang, police have managed to solve 14 cases, the SSP said, of which eight were registered police stations in Jalandhar rural, five in Kapurthala and one with commissionerate police.
Mahal said a case under Sections 379 (theft), 37-B (co-operation by doing one of several acts constituting an offence), 401 (belonging to gang of thieves), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of IPC was registered against the lot at Lambra police station.
