Khattar leads pro-caa march in Panipat

KARNAL :Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar along with several BJP leaders on Wednesday led a foot march in favour of the Citizenshi­p Amendment Act in Panipat.

The Samarthan Padyatra, was part of BJP’S nationwide campaign launched to make people aware about the CAA and clear the alleged “misconcept­ion spread by the opposition parties” about the amended Act .

Amid patriotic songs and slogans, hundreds of BJP workers, representa­tives of panchayati raj institutio­ns and BJP leaders from several districts of the state participat­ed in the 3km foot march began from Circus

Ground in Panipat.

“For us, the entire world is like our family and we believe in peace and harmony. We cannot see anybody in pain, that is why the decision to provide citizenshi­p to people of minority communitie­s from three countries has been taken”, said the CM while addressing the gathering.

“People of religious minority communitie­s in three countries of neighbouri­ng Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanista­n were being victimized but the amended citizenshi­p law to ensure that they could live a respectful life like other Indians”, he added.

“Even some leaders of Congress are in favour of CAA but they cannot speak up due to guidelines, as their party had decided to oppose any decision taken in the favour of the country, including abrogation of Article 370,” he said.
