CHANDIGARH: Haryana information commissioner Jai Singh Bishnoi has issued show-cause notice to all 22 additional deputy commissioners (ADCS) in connection with an application filed under the Right to Information (RTI) Act and asked them to appear before the commission on April 22.

Deciding on an appeal of a Panipat-based RTI activist, PP Kapoor, Bishnoi has also directed the additional chief secretaries of urban local bodies (ULB), panchayat and home departments to ensure that RTI applications are aptly replied.

He also directed that ₹5,000 relief be given to the applicant by the ULB, panchayat and police departments’ state public information officers each.

RTI activist Kapoor said he had sought details about the stray cattle from departments named above as the same caused numerous road mishaps which led to multiple casualties and badly damaged crops in the rural parts.

The stray cattle were also dying due to various reasons, he said.

The ADCS head the official panels entrusted with the activities to the check the stray cattle in their respective districts. Kapoor claimed to have sought the information from Gau Sewa Aayog on October 1, 2018, but was hardly provided any. He, thus, moved the commission.

The commission had also asked the ADCS of all 22 districts to appear before it.

As only some officials representing ADCS of Panipat, Sonepat and Jind appeared on Monday, the notice was sent to all the ADCS, Kapoor said.
