7 fatalities, 648 new cases in Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Haryana on Saturday recorded seven deaths and 648 fresh Covid-19 infections, taking the total number of cases in the state to 20,582, officials said.

The new cases were reported from 17 districts of the state.

Also, seven more people have succumbed to the disease— three from Faridabad, two from Sonepat and one each from Gurugram and Nuh. With this, the death toll in the state has risen to 297.

The health bulletin also mentioned that 490 more patients have been cured in the state and now the total number of recoveries has reached 15,394. At present, 4,891 patients are fighting the infection either at medical facilities or under home isolation.

The bulletin said there are 79 critically ill patients, including 17 on ventilator support and 4,812 with mild symptoms.

The national capital region districts of Gurugram reported 170 cases, Sonepat 110 and Faridabad 90. These districts collective­ly accounted for 57% of the fresh cases on Saturday. Among the other districts, Rewari reported 56 new cases followed by Ambala 42, Hisar 31, Jhajjar 28, Panipat 21, Palwal 20, Mahendraga­rh 18, Bhiwani 14, Karnal and Nuh 12 each, Kurukshetr­a 9, Sirsa 6, Panchkula 5 and Fatehabad 4.

Rohtak, Jind, Yamunanaga­r, Kaithal and Charkhi Dadri districts did not report any fresh case.

Sonepat has reported 67 new virus infections, deputy commission­er Shyam Lal Punia said. Thirteen people have tested positive in Bhiwani.

In Ambala, 42 fresh infections were reported. CMO Dr Kuldeep Singh said, “Out of these 42 new cases, more than 25 came in contact of those infected in the local cloth market. A 24-year-old woman doctor at a private hospital has also tested positive. 20 patients were discharged.”

“We have started sampling through Rapid Antigen tests kit. Results through these kits arrive within 15 minutes. 76 samples were taken out of which two tested positive,” the CMO said.

In Yamunanaga­r, three people have tested positive.

Twenty-one people have tested positive in Panipat, taking the total number of infections in the district to 386. CMO Sant Lal Verma said among the new cases is a 6-year-old boy and 10 women. He said most new patients are contacts of already positive persons. Active cases in the district are193 and 186 patients have been cured.

Nine new cases were reported in Kurukshetr­a, taking the number of infected persons to 190 in the district. CMO Sukbhir Singh

said the new patients have been admitted at the isolation ward and their family members have been quarantine­d. Six patients were discharged and now active cases are 57.

Six more people have tested positive in Karnal district. The total count in the district is now 499.

Health department officials said three infected persons belong to Karnal city and one case each was reported from Gharaunda, Aungandh village and Ansal city of Panipat.
