Gurpal Singh, his brother Rashpal Singh of Tarn Taran’s Dhotian village : Gurpal, who was lodged in Kapurthala jail, brought on production warrant by Tarn Taran police. He was arrested on July 9 along with his two aides with 4,000 litre spirit at Phillaur. According to police Gurpal had been smuggling spirit, raw material used for making liquor, from Patiala and Zirakpur in Mohali.

Hardeep Singh of Thoha village in Patiala : Police have arrested Hardeep after the interrogat­ion of Gurpal. Hardeep was also in contact with spirit smugglers in Patiala and Zirakpur. He was also supplying spirit with the help of Gurpal in Tarn Taran.

Mithu of Khalchian village in Amritsar : Mithu, who is facing four cases, including one under the Excise Act and three of theft, had been supplying illicit liquor to Balwinder Kaur of Muchhal village, who was arrested by Amritsar police after 12 deaths were reported in the village. Balwinder Kaur’s husband Jaswant Singh had also died after consuming illicit liquor. Jaswant was booked under the Excise Act in July. Guvinderbi­r Singh, alias Gobinda of Jandiala: He is the kingpin of the liquor mafia

in Amritsar district. He was involved in supplying spirit from Tarn Taran’s Pandoori village to Amritsar villages. He is also been facing a case under the Excise Act.

Harpreet Singh of Mian Bhander village in Amritsar :

He was in contact with Gobinda and had been supplying spirit in Batala and its adjoining villages. With the arrest of Harpreet Singh on Sunday, the Batala police have found that a small liquor-producing factory was being run at his house. The police have recovered 200 litres of illicit liquor from his possession. The Batala

SSP says Harpreet was using some electronic devices for producing illicit liquor from the spirit.
