FARIDKOT: Chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s political adviser and local MLA Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon has alleged that Covid patients are receiving poor treatment in the isolation ward of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital (GGSMCH), Faridkot, contrary to the Congress regime’s claims of proper care at governmentrun facilities.

Dhillon said that for the last one month he has been receiving at least 20 calls daily, wherein patients or their family members complained of inadequate treatment or medical assistance at the medical college. “Even the patients prefer to get treatment from other Covid-19 facilities. The Adesh Medical Institute at Sadiq in the district is providing better treatment than the GGSMCH,” he said.

“The preparedness by the GGSMCH to tackle Covid is not up to the mark and lack of infrastructure is making situation tough for the doctors. Even senior doctors do not come on rounds for more than 24 hours,” he added.

Dhillon said he will inform the CM regarding the authorities’ negligence and also write a letter demanding an inquiry. He also alleged that a high-level corruption has surfaced in the recent recruitment process conducted by the BFUHS and the state government will probe it.

GGSMCH medical superintendent Dr Rajiv Joshi termed the allegations as baseless, claiming that they are providing proper treatment to all corona patients. The medical staff is always available and regularly keeps tabs on the health of patients, he said.
