THREE LET ASSOCIATES ARRESTED IN BANDIPORA

SRINAGAR: Three militant associates of the Lashkar-etoiba (LET) were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district and incriminat­ing materials found in their possession, police said on Tuesday.

A police spokespers­on said based on credible inputs about miscreants hoisting Pakistani flags at the behest of active LET militants at the main market of the Hajin area of the district in north Kashmir.

“The flags were hoisted with a view to create a fear psychosis and incite anti-national feelings among the common people of Hajin town,” he said.

The spokespers­on said a case under relevant sections of the law was registered.

During the probe, three people—mujeeb Shamas, Tanveer Ahmad Mir and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sheikh, all residents of Mir Mohalla area of Hajin— were arrested, he said.

The trio admitted that they were involved in the incident, he added.

A hand grenade, a piece of cloth, a sewing machine and other incriminat­ing materials used in making the flags were found in their possession, the spokespers­on said, adding that the investigat­ion is underway.

Militants hurl grenade at CRPF camp in Tral area

SRINAGAR: Militants on Tuesday fired an underbarre­l grenade launcher (UBGL) towards a security forces’ camp in the Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir but there was damage caused by the explosion, officials said.

The militanst fired the grenade towards a Central Reserve Police Force camp at Nowdal in the Tral area of Pulwama district, they said.

Officials said the grenade exploded without causing any damage.

Some gunshots were also heard after the blast.
