100 healthcare workers to get shots on Jan 16
CHANDIGARH: Haryana received its first consignment of 2,61,500 doses of the coronavirus vaccine, including 2,41,500 doses of Covishield manufactured by Serum Institute of India in collaboration with Astrazeneca and 20,000 doses of Covaxin vaccine manufactured by Bharat Biotech, on Wednesday.
Healthcare workers from the state, central government and armed forces medical services personnel will be first ones to get the shots from January 16 onwards.
As per the health department, 2,31,900 doses have been allocated to healthcare workers from Haryana, 4,930 to those from the central government and 4,070 to the armed forces medical services personnel for inoculation in the first phase. Most armed forces medical services personnel are deployed in Panchkula, Hisar and Ambala .
Both the vaccine consignments — Covishield that arrived at the Chandigarh International Airport and Covaxin that was flown to New Delhi — were dispatched through refrigerated vans to the state vaccine warehouse at Kurukshetra.
Additional chief secretary, health, Rajeev Arora said the vaccine will be distributed to all districts from the warehouse in the next two days.
Gurugram, which has a critical positivity rate of 8.2%, will get 44,950 doses followed by Faridabad ( 22,620), Hisar ( 21,770), Karnal ( 13,160), Ambala ( 12,840), Rohtak (10,950), Jind (10,540 ), Sonepat ( 10,310), Panchkula ( 9,040), Kaithal (8,700), Jhajjar (7,990), Yamunanagar (7,630), Bhiwani ( 7,400), Sirsa ( 7,320), Nuh (7,120), Panipat (6,660), Kurukshetra (6,310), Fatehabad (6,820 ), Rewari ( 5,700), Mahendergarh (5,620), Palwal (5,090 ) and Charkhi Dadri ( 3,360). State immunisation officer Dr Virendra Ahlawat said nearly 100 healthcare workers will be administered the vaccine on January 16, the launch day, at 113 vaccination sites across 22 districts. “Regular Covid immunisation will commence from January 18,’’ Dr Ahlawat said.
