5 HELD FOR ILLEGAL MINING IN SBS NAGAR, 11 TRACTOR-TROLLEYS SEIZED

JALANDHAR: Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar police arrested five persons for illegal mining in Rahon police and seized 11 tractor-trolleys, an excavator and a tipper. The accused have been are Jatinder Singh, Sukhreet Singh, Jasdev Singh and Nand Kumar, all of Ludhiana district, and Paramvir Singh of Fatehgarh Sahib. District mining officer Harjinder Singh said the accused had been found indulging in illegal mining in Sutlej river at Saidpur village. Investigating officer Gurbaksh Singh said a probe was underway.
