MCPI (U) SLAMS DELHI VIOLENCE
The Marxist Communist Party of India (United) on Friday condemned the Republic Day violence and hoisting of a religious flag atop the Red Fort in Delhi.
Party’s national secretary Kuldip Singh and Punjab state committee secretary Pawan Kumar Kaushal alleged that Tuesday’s violence was the handiwork agent provocateurs with links to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“What happened at the Red Fort was the result of a conspiracy of some agencies and the inability and negligence of the police to protect the monument. These untoward incidents cannot detract focus from the main demand of farmers,” they said in a statement.
The two leaders criticised the FIRS against the farmer leaders.
Human rights bodies express concern over disappearance of protesters in Delhi
AMRITSAR : Various Punjabbased human rights organisations on Friday raised concern over disappearance of Punjab youths from January-26 incidents in Delhi and claimed that as many as 200 men had been detained by the police.
Representatives of Punjab Documentation and Advocacy Project, Khalra Mission Organisation, Punjab Human Rights Organisation, Lawyers for Human Rights International, People’s Union for Civil Liberties and Human Rights Law Network addressed a joint press conference wherein Paramjit Kaur Khalsa, patron of Khalra Mission Organisation, said, “Despite the Supreme Court having directed the Delhi Police to take a decision to allow the protest on January 26, there was an abject failure to properly police this protest and the use of force was entirely disproportionate.”
